Does tankless really give unlimited hot water?

Why is my tankless water suddenly lukewarm or cycling?
The classic causes: a scaled heat exchanger crying for descaling, a clogged inlet filter, gas supply falling short at full fire, or flow below the unit's activation threshold. Error codes on the unit usually name the family.
Can a tankless replace my tank unit directly?
