Editorial Policy

The standing rules for everything published on this site.

Claims are earned

Statements about availability, response times, credentials, coverage, pricing, or warranties appear only when verified for the actual business entity serving you, and our build tooling enforces this rule mechanically. Until verification exists, the site describes the work, not promises about it.

No fabricated trust signals

  • No invented reviews, testimonials or ratings, consistent with FTC rules on endorsements. Reviews will appear only when collected from real customers through a documented process.
  • No fictional authors, credentials or "as seen in" badges.
  • No fake urgency: no countdown timers, no "2 technicians left in your area".
  • Brand names are used descriptively (nominative use) only; no affiliation, sponsorship or authorized-service status is implied unless it exists and is verified.

Honest scope and DIY boundaries

Pages state plainly when a problem is reasonably owner-serviceable, when the cheaper fix is the right fix, and when a symptom deserves diagnosis before anyone spends money. Safety overrides sales everywhere: gas odor, sewage exposure and electrical hazards route to emergency guidance first, never to a sales pitch.

Updates and datedness

Content is updated when facts change (codes, regulations, methods), and update dates change only when content genuinely changes. We do not refresh dates to appear current. Errors are handled through the corrections policy.

How this content is produced

Pages are produced through the documented process on our methodology page: a curated taxonomy, real search-demand data, source-grounded drafting and automated verification, with editorial review before publication. Business relationships that could influence content are listed on the disclosures page.
